Overview
The Mortal Shell 2 trophy list is built around a specific set of collectibles. There are 154 trophy-related collectibles in total, spanning Shells, weapons, sidearms, Beacons, Tarstones, and Map Fragments. Ova (the main progression resource) are tracked separately and are not part of the 154.
Counts on this page were verified against post-release guide coverage (PowerPyx-derived guides, Game8, AllThings. How, GameRant and the trophy lists themselves) published after the Aug 20, 2026 launch. The per-category numbers below are confirmed; the 154 grand total is a compiled figure and may be refined as more completionist guides land.
Collectible Types & Counts
The 154 total breaks down into six categories. Each category has its own trophy, and the trophy pops the moment you pick up the final item in that category (Shell Seeker, Lord of War, Guns. Lots of Guns, Stoned, Sat Nav, and So Fresh So Clean).
| Category | Count | Confidence | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shells | 8 | T1 | Harros starts equipped; 8 more to collect (Genessa cannot be map-marked) |
| Weapons | 9 | T1 | Covered by the Lord of War trophy; nine weapon trophies confirmed in the launch list |
| Sidearms | 8 | T1 | Covered by Guns. Lots of Guns |
| Beacons | 46 | T1 | 49 exist; 3 are already cleansed and do not count |
| Tarstones | 73 | T1 | Covered by Stoned; two menu slots stay empty on purpose |
| Map Fragments | 11 | T1 | Covered by Sat Nav; 5 in Fainweald + 6 in Mammon |
| Total | 154 | T1 | Ova (168) are NOT part of this total |
Beacons, dungeons and a few other categories show up as map icons; Tarstones and Map Fragments never appear on the map, which makes them the most time-consuming categories. Counted separately from the 154: Tarforge Upgrades (5), Dungeons (33), and Healing Upgrades (21). Upgrades consume four core materials — Ventrium, Dorsalite, Laterite and Thoracium — with Thoracium being the highest tier, tied to the +16–+20 range and farmable from The Collector at night (see the weapons guide for locations).
Nothing in the base collectible set is missable, and free-roam stays open after the final boss, so finish everything before entering NG+.
Beacons
There are 49 Beacons in the world, but only 46 count toward the "So Fresh So Clean" trophy — three are already cleansed when you find them: Marrow Keep, Widow's Overlook, and Outskirts of Mammon.
No Beacon is missable; after the final boss you can roam freely to pick up any you skipped. Cleansing Beacons is also the main way to gather Ova, which feeds the "Bring My Ova Back to Me" trophy, and each Beacon cleansed after a Corrupted Gate awards a large batch — up to 26 Ova per gate Beacon.
Ovum & Corrupted Gates
Ova (referred to in-game as Ovum) are the core progression resource. The point of no return requires 168 Ovum — confirmed by multiple post-launch guides (GameRant and Gamer.org both cite the exact requirement).
The most efficient way to gather Ova is to cleanse Corrupted Gates. Post-release coverage confirms six Corrupted Gates, each guarded by a major boss — GameRant, GameSpot and IGN's review all describe the six gates, and the six post-gate Beacons each hold 26 Ova. You do not need to cleanse every gate to reach 168.
The point of no return. After defeating the final boss Zmey, the Unbidden, a Gloom Siphon appears with a "Send Ova" option. Selecting it triggers the final cutscene, the "This is Not an Achievement" trophy/achievement, and moves you into NG+. There is no confirmation dialog — clicking Send Ova is immediate and irreversible, so save your collecting for before it.
Missable achievements. Trophies coaching agrees on three genuinely missable achievements (see the missables guide for full detail):
- Mid Summer? — during the opening, Marigold offers you a flower crown on the way to claim your first Shell; accept it. Walking past her locks the trophy for that playthrough.
- No, You Still Can't Win: lower the Tar Golem boss to minimum health in the prologue — the scripted cutscene plays either way, but the achievement only unlocks in the tutorial, which NG+ skips.
- Peter's Perfect Parry: with the Untarnished Seal, perfectly guard every headspin of The Nameless Captive. This one can be caught up on in NG+.
Tarstones
The Stoned trophy requires finding all 73 Tarstones — the count is confirmed by post-launch guides (AllThings. How and PowerPyx-derived coverage), and your menu is expected to show two empty slots once you have them all, so a gap is normal.
One Tarstone is permanently missable: the Berserker's Stone in the Temple of Vatra. After you take the Heart of Vatra and leave, the area's gate closes permanently and does not reopen in NG+ — pick it up before leaving. A few Tarstones are bought rather than found: Merrick sells the Acolyte's and Unwieldy stones; the One-Legged Wolf innkeeper sells Hand of Rock; and The Collector (who appears only at night in Abandoned Outpost) sells the Weeping, Infused, Fulminant, and Infested stones.
For upgrades: leveling every Tarstone to Lv2 yields one Tarcore each (73 total); Lv3 costs 150 Gold plus 6 Tarcore (net 3 after refunds). See the mechanics guide for the Tarforge and the four Tarstone types.
